2013 Almond Production Down 2 Percent from the 2012 Final Production

Issued September 27, 2013 by the Agricultural Statistics Board of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Statistics Service. For more information contact Lance Honig at (202) 720-2127 or lance_honig@nass.usda.gov.

The National Agricultural Statistics Service forecasts the 2013 California almond production to be 1.85 billion meat pounds, down 2 percent from the 2012 final production. The July 1, 2013 forecast is based on the Almond Objective Measurement Survey conducted in May and June.  Because California produces virtually all of the almonds grown in the United States, this forecasted total represents the expected United States production in 2013. NASS conducted the 2013 Almond Objective Measurement Survey with funding from the Almond Board of California.
